A Day in the Life of a Professional Football Club with Walsall FC

28.01.2019

Pupils spend ‘A day in the Life of a Professional Football Club’ with the University of Wolverhampton and Walsall FC.

Held at the home of Walsall FC, Bescott Stadium, pupils were invited to spend the day and find out more about the range of the exciting roles and careers associated with a professional football club, from developing sports performance, to working with the community, to marketing and managing events at the club.

The day kicked off with a welcome from Chris Sellars, a Lecturer in Sport from the University of Wolverhampton who had organised the event. Pupils then moved around a series of activities which took them all over the stadium, this included a tour from a former goalkeeper and a workshop from Walsall FC CEO Stefan Gamble, who talked about the business behind what happens on the pitch.

Pupils had the opportunity to meet recent graduates and members of staff from the club who shared their journey and tips for people considering careers in the world of sport.

This is the first of three events in partnership with local football clubs in the Black Country, we have events coming soon with West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers FC.
